KENOSHA KID FALL 2025

For two decades, Kenosha Kid has carved out a singular voice in modern jazz, blending deep grooves, rich melodies, and fearless improvisation. Now, the group is expanding its reach with a special series of performances and workshops, bringing its adventurous sound to new audiences.

Led by guitarist and composer Dan Nettles (Athens, GA), this tour features an all-star lineup:

Marlon Patton (drums, Nashville, TN) – Marlon's drumming transcends conventional rhythm, weaving a sonic tapestry that blurs the lines between tradition and innovation. He has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including LiV Warfield, Lonnie Holley, and Jim White.

Robby Handley (bass, Atlanta, GA) – A pivotal figure in the Atlanta jazz scene, Robby's deep groove and melodic sensibility have made him a sought-after collaborator. He has performed with artists such as Michelle Malone, Lera Lynn, and Larkin Poe.

Jacob Wick (trumpet, Mexico City, MX) – A virtuosic and textural player, Jacob explores the edges of sound and improvisation. He has collaborated with artists including Mabe Fratti, claire rousay, and Gerald Cleaver. His 2024 release something in your eyes was listed among the best experimental music of the year by Bandcamp.

Greg Sinibaldi (saxophone, Seattle, WA) – Greg is a bold voice at the intersection of jazz, electronics, and avant-garde expression. He has collaborated with Gunther Schuller, Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz, and Cuong Vu, bringing a unique improvisational language and rich sonic palette to each project.

This tour is made possible by the South Arts Jazz Road Tour Grant, which supports bringing jazz into new markets, nontraditional venues, and underserved communities.

"A mash-up between contemporary jazz, alt-rock and jam-band ethos... Nettles... is an understated yet arresting guitarist, and an accomplished, composer with an ear for a good hook... Kenosha Kid would grace just about any festival stage."  - All About Jazz

Nearing twenty years in existence, Kenosha Kid (or K.Kid as occasionally stylized) is a musical group led by guitarist Dan Nettles. Based in the humid indie-rock haven of Athens, Georgia, Nettles has lead a worldwide host of collaborators in a simple purpose: build a scene, write for people you know, and listen to your creative heart. Although deeply rooted in jazz composition, the all-instrumental music is fueled by an omnivorous musical appetite and as likely to reference Monk as Willie Nelson, Hendrix as Duke Ellington.

In an avalanche of creativity, October Book Parts One, Two and Three [2022] are the latest K. Kid offerings. Written across one month, OCTOBER BOOK is an epic 3-LP set featuring 31 songs, 25 musicians and a dreamlike abundance of musical sorcery with moments of lyrical melodic hooks, textural bliss, and pure rock-band glory.

"Nettles’ compositions are melodic and organically unfold through clear forms and solid sounds... a distinct sonic and emotional universe brought into focus by a band that listens as hard as they play…" -Staccatofy
